The information I found was very interesting because I did not think the scores would be that high also the rates. As a teacher I know that the student body comes to school, also that their scores are not low. I would take that opportunity to better prepare the students throughout elementary to high school for college.
The SAT average for District of Columbia public schools is 1313 and the ACT average is a composite score of 21.

Being an effective teacher in DC based off this information means many different things. Most areas are looked at as a whole but when discussing DC schools it is a bit different. Different quadrants of the city are known for different things and the way that one will live. Working at Anacostia High School is different than working at Woodrow Wilson High school. Knowing what school you will be working at really make a difference and knowing what the students need and what as a teacher one should bring to the table. A positive impact to the community is good, but it is even better depending on the area that you are teaching in.
DCPS ( District of Columbia Public Schools) goal is to accommodate all students of all background. This school system is locate in the heart of the city, and all schools are public transportation accessible. There are 46,500 students and 3,500 teachers currently within the DC public school system. There are 15 high schools, 11 middle schools, 60 elementary schools , 18 educational campuses, 2 special education schools, 3 youth engagement schools, and 2 adult schools totaling to 111 within the public school district.
